Since 24-year-old Matthew West was a child, he has dreamed of having the opportunity to compete on a global stage and represent the United States of America. In 2013, he will have that chance as he goes for the gold in floor hockey at the Special Olympics World Winter Games.
Matthew, from Riverside, has prepared for the World Games for the past 11 years. He has won numerous gold medals in basketball and floor hockey and even competed on his high school wrestling team.
Matthew lives for sports, and one his favorite hobbies is attending Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Angels games.
When he's not watching or competing in sports, he is working at Ability Counts in Riverside.
